Challenging and exciting opportunity within a leading European logistics company, providing hundreds of loading units and more than 250 tractor units within Daily Logistics Group (DLG) total, deployed across UK and Europe. Based in Cranford, Northamptonshire, you will work very closely with the DLG-UK team in Cranford and Bury St. Edmunds, HGV drivers, agencies and DLG transport planning in the Netherlands.

With the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, you support services to ensure operational demands are met. DLG is operating in a dynamic and fluctuating market, which requires a hands-on and problem-solving mindset.

As the Transport Operations Assistant, you will have responsibility and accountability for the manning up of all available DLG-UK trucks in a structured way and in line with company requirements. To enable the transport planning team to allocate the right trucks and drivers to certain trips, the correct processing of availability and any related deviations is key. Together with the NL transport planning team the required occupation of type of drivers for the coming period is determined and your aim is to realize this. You are successful when you manage to have the right occupancy on the trucks which enables the planning team utilize the full potential out of the fleet. Also, you identify risks, issues and opportunities while responding to them with solutions and techniques to improve delivery and profitability.

Responsibilities to include:

- Make sure there is an ongoing clear and up-to date overview of the truck and driver availability. Reducing the operational standstill, support in solving queries and realizing the optimal driver occupancy are your main drivers.
- Control of driver’s hours and legal compliance in accordance with tachograph legislation and WTD.
- Understand and meet the Company’s Operating License obligations ensuring that appropriate controls and procedures are rigorously enforced.
- Support the HR department in NL by making sure required documents are present after recruiting new employees, such as ID/passport, drivers license and regular checks.
- Keep daily contact with all drivers and maintain the administration of sickness, non BOCO hours, expenses and holidays.
- Planning for the transport operation whilst actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, increasing margin whilst meeting the periodically set objectives.
- Maintain an excellent working knowledge of, and work proactively and in accordance with, all current and anticipated legislative requirements and best practice in the transport industry, and support in achieving any accreditations that the company may wish to attain.
- Make sure DLG-UK functions as an extension of the NL transport planning and the service is meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Ensuring availability of all HGV driver resources on a day-to-day basis. Planning driver resource tactically and operationally.
- Provision of input for weekly KPI updates to the UK Transport Manager and ensure outcomes are implemented
- Ensures that all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss, RTA, personal injury reporting and emergency procedures.
- Assist in achieving the corporate goals, company values, guidelines and QEHS goals of the company.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure all logistic solutions are fully integrated and designed to improve customer service.
- Ensure all administrative processes are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Core hours are 45 per week Monday to Friday with varied start times depending on business needs. You will be required to work additional hours if necessary for the proper performance of your duties. There is a shared on-call element, whilst the office is closed, including weekends. The company will provide all necessary equipment.

Skills Required:

- Proven experience in a transport company and Rota planning
- Strong administration skills (structured and punctual)
- Hand-on mentality and willingness to learn about the business
- Focus on planning ahead and flexible in solving arising problems
- Good computer skills
- Excellent social and communication skills
- Working well under pressure
- Sound understanding of driver working hours and transport laws
- English speaking and writing

Skill desired:

- Dutch speaker

**Salary**: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
