**JOB SUMMARY**

SYEDA has evolved over the years from a small self-help group for people with eating disorders (ED) into a regional organisation that is also a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Services currently offered include - support groups, CBT, counselling, occupational therapy, creative therapies and a range of education/training programmes.

We deliver services across the whole of South Yorkshire with the majority of demand for our services currently in Sheffield.

Working in partnership with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and CCG commissioners from across South Yorkshire, SYEDA will be expanding our education programme to reach more young people at risk of developing an eating disorder.

**Main purpose of the post**:
The Education Worker will contribute to the delivery of our prevention strategy. We will be offering an extensive education programme and workshops to young people in a number of settings including schools and colleges both face to face and online via video.

You will work with the senior education and training officer to establish relationships with schools and colleges to create ‘centers of excellence’ that can demonstrate best practice in prevention and early identification of eating disorders and implementing clear referral pathways.

You will make effective use of social media to raise awareness and challenge misinformation and unhelpful messages around eating disorders.

The post holder will successfully engage with the wider community to increase awareness of eating disorders and identify training and learning opportunities.

**Main Duties**

**A.** **Education**

01. To contribute to the design and delivery (face to face and online) of our education programme including workshops on body image, eating disorders and self-esteem.

02. To work in partnership with colleagues in the Sheffield pathway to identify audiences and share/pool skills and expertise.

03. To develop links with schools, colleges, universities, community organisations, youth centres, leisure centres and other places where young people are engaged in order for SYEDA to carry out preventative work.

04. To support SYEDA in raising awareness of eating disorders and promote our services at events, conferences, and fundraisers.

05. To produce content and design on-line learning modules.

06. To work with the senior education and training officer to initiate a social media strategy aimed at raising awareness around ED and the learning opportunities that we offer.

07. To work with the senior education and training officer to monitor and collate data for all activities within the project and provide required information to the commissioners and any other applicable body.

08. To carry out other duties that may arise from time-to-time relevant to job.

**B.** **Miscellaneous**

01. To attend or set up meetings as appropriate, when required.

02. To undertake training and development relevant to the job as identified within supervisions, annual appraisals and personal training plans.

03. To comply with SYEDA policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies.

04. To be flexible in working hours as there may be evening work, the possibility of occasional weekend work; travel away from the office base will be required such as for attending meetings and training.

05. To have a DBS disclosure at the enhanced level as necessary for working at SYEDA.

06. To be involved with the clinical team - attending meetings, partnership working for training purposes, developing own knowledge

**Pay scale** Starting Salary at £13,000pa (£26,000pa FTE) pay award pending

**Reports to**: **Senior Education and Training Officer**

**Term of contract**: 1-2 years depending on funding

**Hours**: 18.75 hrs per week (or 37.5 if combined with Training Worker post)

**Location**: Sheffield based
