The Nelson Trust has a national and international reputation as a centre of excellence in the treatment of addiction. We are passionate about recovery and believe in the capacity for individual change based on abstinence; our residential treatment helps our clients to achieve lasting recovery. In addition, we provide a safe, women-only space for those who have experienced trauma or abuse which is closely associated with substance dependency.

Our innovative work with women with complex problems led to the establishment of the Women’s Centres in Gloucester, Swindon, and Somerset and most recently the setting up of a centre in Bristol and provision in South Wales. These provide a “one stop shop” approach to the wide range of complex needs and for women in the criminal justice system.

As a Trustee you will be joining us in our efforts by making decisions that will impact positively on the lives of our clients. You will help us ensure that we use our resources wisely to achieve our purpose while continuously striving to be the best we can be. You will have strategic vision, independent judgement and an ability to think creatively.

These positions are unremunerated, but reasonable expenses will be paid. You will be required to commit to attending quarterly meetings. Our Trustees also sit on sub committees that relate to their areas of expertise and/or their specific interests and also on working groups, as appropriate.
