**Mechanical Inspector**

We have great opportunities for Mechanical Inspectors to work on complex, innovative and world leading projects such as Typhoon, Hawk and F-35 Lightning II. Join us and you will be working alongside other functions to deliver products that will be in service for 40+ years and being continually upgraded to maintain Customers Air Defence capabilities.

As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be conducting inspection activities across a wide range of products covering the full production lifecycle from detail manufacturing, minor and major assemblies, final assembly to acceptance and delivery to customers. This will include testing of mechanical systems such as Hydraulics, Fuel and Environmental control within the aircraft.

This role will provide you with opportunities for development within the wider BAE business.

**Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Inspector will involve**:

- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, supporting quality gates and the approved operator system.
- Maintaining product documentation, data integrity and certification of product, to assure product safety and process control.
- Mechanical Inspectors are employed to conduct inspection activities across a wide range of Products including (but not limited to) Typhoon, Hawk and F35 covering the full Production lifecycle from detail manufacturing, Minor and Major Assemblies, Final assembly to acceptance and delivery to customers.
- Be conversant with the use of various inspection tools and equipment and the use of that equipment to inspect a finished product to meet the correct Quality standards.
- Be conversant with the use of IT to interrogate and interpret engineering inspection instructions, design data / design and process specifications.
- Understand defined operating procedures, Safety Health and Environment Procedures and Quality Management Procedures and will undertake any relevant training specific to the role.
- Must have achieved the appropriate level of skill and experience to carry out “Certification of Product” to Perform inspection test across the following manufacturing activities;
- Detail Manufacture
- Minor / Major Sub-Assemblies
- Full Aircraft Assembly
- Provide written reports to Production Management on failings in quality and to provide effective follow up actions, to ensure positive corrective actions and effective mitigation of the root cause.
- Promote and encourage continuous quality improvement amongst production personnel and recommend any Quality Improvement Process (QIP), as appropriate, based on evaluations and observations made.
- Demonstrate competency through adherence to all mandated aspects of QPS066 / QPS115 Operator approval process.
- Promoting the error management system and having knowledge of human factors within the working environment.

**Your skills and qualifications**:

- ** **City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (copies will need to be provided).
- Time Served Advanced Engineering/ manufacturing Apprenticeship and or equivalent (copies will need to be provided).
- Understanding of Tool Control, Tool calibration and Foreign Object Debris (F.O.D.) procedures.
- Experience in the use of aircraft tooling and measuring equipment in the production of close tolerance components and the necessary regulated standards.
- Previous Inspection experience.

**Desirable**:

- Experience working with military aircraft.
