You will assist the GP’s and practice nurse team inthe service and delivery of the care managementof the practice population. To include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.

The post will include some administrative duties.

A uniform and name badge must be worn at all times.

You will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.
- Check patient identification against GP request and confirm details with the patient.
- Provide phlebotomy in accordance with training and procedures.
- Take physiological measurements from patients blood pressure, pulse rate, height and weight, urinalysis.
- Diabetes foot screening as per training.
- Administer flu vaccinations under Patient Specific Directions.
- B12 Injections using the practice protocol.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient interventions.
- Clearing and restocking of consulting/treatment rooms, including timely order of stock items under your control.
- Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being by participating in patient health promotion and screening initiatives.
- Give accurate and appropriate information to patients within own competence.
- Ensure that anomalies are reported to a member of the clinical team.
- Ensure full and accurate recording in the patient’s computerised records.

Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 50,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Whilst appointees will have a base practice within NPC, they may be asked to work at other practices across our group. We do however limit this as much as possible as we appreciate continuity is vital to effective primary care.

Please note that NPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will:

- Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk
- Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team’s performance
- Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs
- Effectively manage own time, workload and resources.

To assist the qualified nursing staff in the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care.

To provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team.

To maintain high clinical standards.

To help maintain a clean and safe ward environment.
