**Description**

**Key responsibilities**
- Support our project teams by providing guidance on environmental regulations, carbon reduction and environmental impact mitigation measures across all phases of a construction project.
- Carry out regular site visits to a range of civils, rail renewals and rail maintenance projects across Scotland (often in scenic locations) and conduct periodic environmental audits to ensure we are achieving environmental compliance.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and consultants such as ecologists and environmental monitoring specialists and communicate relevant information to project teams.
- Actively seek innovative measures to improve energy efficiency and carbon reduction on construction projects across Scotland.
- Compile project-specific environmental documentation, such as Environmental & Social Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans and Pollution Prevention Plans.
- Deliver toolbox talks and internal training courses to project teams on topics such as pollution prevention, spill response and preventing spread of invasive species.
- Support our Environmental & Sustainability Manager by collating HSQE auditing, environmental KPI data and carbon emissions data.

**Qualifications / Experience**
- Bachelor of Environmental Management (preferable) or a scientific degree.
- Membership with a relevant professional body, or willing to work towards.
- 2 years of environmental experience including engagement with site teams and regulatory bodies / agencies such as SEPA, Forestry and Land Scotland etc.
- An understanding of environmental legislative and regulatory requirements and consents process in Scotland.
- Familiarity with CDM 2015 and Construction Site Safety GE700, particularly the environmental aspects.
- Some ecological, habitat management and biodiversity enhancement knowledge would be beneficial.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and IT skills (i.e. Microsoft Office).
- UK Driver’s Licence.
