The team/department
The Senior PMO Planner will be part of the Strengthening Wholesale Markets & Market Abuse (SWM&MA) portfolio, which is within the EMO, ESG & International Change Department (EE&I).
In April 2022, the FCA launched a new strategy comprising of three key focus areas supported by 13 cross-cutting commitments. The Strengthening Wholesale Markets & Market Abuse (SWM&MA) portfolio is comprised of 2 public commitments:
- Strengthening the UK’s position in wholesale markets (SWM). We seek a UK wholesale market which supports both the domestic economy and growth and is open to innovation, underpinned by high standards of market integrity and consumer protection. This will be achieved if the UK continues to be regarded as one of the leading global markets of choice for issuers, intermediaries and investors, when compared to other high-quality markets- Delivering assertive action on market abuse (MA). Market abuse undermines the integrity of the UK financial system, eroding confidence and lowering participation, to the detriment of all market participants
The SWM&MA portfolio is comprised of a number of business initiatives, complex programmes and projects.
What you will be doing (the role)
The PMO Planner will be accountable for completing both high level and detailed planning across the SWM&MA Portfolio.
Further responsibilities include:
- Developing the baseline and detailed portfolio plan using MS Project across the projects, programmes and business initiatives- Developing and maintaining the critical path, to assist the SWM&MA Board to make informed decisions as they need to be aware of the critical path to achieving each outcome- Tracking against the baseline and portfolio dependencies, assessing impact of slippage (if required)- Identification and management of milestones (Level 1,2,3)- Preparation and presenting of planning materials in accessible formats for different stakeholder groups- Quality assurance of project plans and acting as the planning specialist within the portfolio to help the PMs and PMOs across the projects, programmes and business initiatives as needed (i.e., facilitating planning workshops and providing training)

We support hybrid working which means you will be able to work from home up to 60% of the time over a month with the remainder of your time in one of our three office locations.
The skills and experience you will have
Minimum- Proven experience of working in a PMO/project management capacity within the FCA or organisation of equivalent scale and complexity (ideally financial services, government/regulatory body, technology, consultancy)- Demonstrable evidence of using MS Projects to produce detailed plans
Essential- Experience of collating project/programme/portfolio MI- Substantial planning experience on complex projects and programmes, including knowledge in tracking against a baseline, developing the critical path, managing dependencies- Ability to build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders and team members- Effective at coaching others in planning best practice- Facilitation skills to run planning workshops
