Volunteer Research Assistant

Belfast, United Kingdom My Pickle CIC Full time

Help us to find and document key information on support services across Northern Ireland. We will then share this information with the general public online to make it easier to find help fast.

**Who We Are**

11.8million people in the UK struggle to find support. Sadly, 2 in 5 will delay or give up looking because of this. With your help, we can connect more people to the support they need when they need it.

Hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life have already taken part in creating the UK’s largest vetted directory of support services. The directory provides clear and unbiased information on national support services such as helplines and covers all life challenges from health to housing. Information on over 2,600 services from the directory is shared:

- With the general public at free website mypickle.org and My Pickle social media channels
- With companies to assist customers or employees in need

Over the past two years we have directly connected over 5,600 people to support, and our work has picked up many awards. With your help, we can connect many more people to support during these incredibly tough times.

**Why We Need You**

As a volunteer-driven initiative, volunteers are our beating heart. We would not exist without them offering their time, skills and expertise to help others.

Key details for this volunteer Cohort programme:

- Volunteer two hours per week remotely wherever you are in the UK
- Cohort 6 runs from 20 February 2023 to 19 June 2023 (four months)
- Remote and flexible volunteering to fit alongside existing commitments
- Training, friendly buddies and team meetings to welcome and assist you
- Opportunities for personal growth and progression and to stay on for future cohorts

**The Role**

As Volunteer Researcher you will help us to:

- Help to find information on trusted external support services to add to our directory which meet our requirements. For this Cohort we will have sub-teams focused on filling any gaps for each UK nation - England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
- Clearly and succinctly summarise and submit key information about the services you have found
- Peer review and provide feedback on information submitted by other researchers
- Assist in other ad-hoc activities to improve the directory and our data quality

Requires excellent analytical and written English skills.

**Our Ask**

We are looking for volunteers based in the UK who can commit time two hours per week from Monday 20 February 2023 to Monday 19 June 2023.

All our meetings take place online on Zoom. Due to capacity and privacy, we do not record or rerun these meetings and appreciate your understanding.

Attendance is essential to stay up to date and involved. Volunteer Meeting Schedule:

- Mandatory Induction: All volunteers must attend this on Monday 20 February, 17:30-18:30

All roles are home-based and require motivated individuals who can schedule in and consistently offer two hours of assistance each week.

Remote-working: Access to a computer or laptop with camera and a stable internet connection is required.
