**Excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established company based in Ashton-In-Makerfield

**Position Type: **Permanent

**Hours: **Full time, 36 ½ hours

**Salary**:Salary negotiable depending on experience

**Industry: **Engineering/Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our clients North West-based business specialising predominantly in the design and manufacture of automotive logistics material handling equipment, pallets, stillages and racks but also for supply of packaging equipment to a diverse range of other sectors located in the UK, Europe, and internationally.

**Responsibilities:
- Designing bespoke packaging solutions from customer supplied 3D models and general design remits/ manufacturing standards, whilst ensuring that all designs are fit for purpose, cost effective to predetermined parameters, and designed to maximise production efficiency.
- Preparation of PowerPoint concept proposals
- Production and release of 2D manufacturing drawings and bills of material
- Leading engagement with customers at all times throughout the design process by electronic means, telephone, or site visits
- The successful fulfilment of allocated design projects from inception through to final production delivery
- Supporting the sales channel in the process of winning work
- Contributing to the further development of the design function

**Requirements**:
- Ideally educated to HND Level or with an equivalent level of knowledge-based experience
- With a strong engineering background, prior knowledge of the automotive manufacturing sector/ automotive components would be desirable but not essential
- Good working knowledge of Solidworks with particular emphasis on the design of mechanical components, weldments, sheet metal and steel fabrications.
- Experienced in a manufacturing environment with a demonstrable appreciation of designing for manufacture;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
