Job description

Braintree District Council operates a shared procurement service known as the Essex Procurement Hub for a number of local authorities across the county of Essex.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement professional to join this team in a career graded position progressing through the pay grades based on successful achievement of deliverables and the successful completion of professional qualifications in Procurement and Supply Operations.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be required to:

- Assist in the running of the Procurement function, providing a cost effective service to the Hub members.
- Conduct contract management of the Councils national framework arrangements with support from the Senior Procurement Consultants.
- Actively promote the Councils frameworks at seminars, conferences, meet the buyer events, etc.
- Monitor expenditure through Frameworks managed on behalf of the Essex Procurement Hub and to forecast income in terms of rebates recovered through the frameworks.
- Manage & recover rebates owed to the Council based on the throughput of the national frameworks let by the Council.
- Assist Braintree Officers in the sourcing of suppliers for lower value goods & services.
- Assist Braintree Officers in running quotation exercises for lower value goods & services.
- Undertake general duties, including telephone answering, electronic document storage, distribution of mail and invoice processing, including the management of the sections corporate credit card.
- GCSE level 4 (grade C) or better in Maths and English (essential)
- Experience of working in a public procurement environment (desirable)
- Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) level 4 Diploma qualification (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence (desirable)

Along with the ability to work as part of a team, able to manage and prioritise their own workload, excellent IT skills, good communication and interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail.
