Mechanical Estimator / Designer
Procol Ltd specialise in providing consistently high-quality Mechanical and Electrical installations to the Datacentre and Telecoms industries as well as refurbishment of technical and office environments for ‘blue chip’ companies. Procol operates throughout the UK, with the majority of projects within the South of England, and the majority of works being upgrades or refurbishments to existing technical facilities for the UK’s most valuable brand.
Role Responsibilities
As part of a multi-discipline project team, your key duties will include:
Meeting with Clients to discuss and develop their requirements
Carrying out intrusive Electrical and Mechanical site surveys to Identify the most appropriate solutions to complex problems
Developing designs using input from engineers and architects on the team
Preparing the designs to a level ready for tendering / estimation (Design and Build, or developing tender stage to construction stage)
Assisting the estimating department with bids or where more appropriate completing estimations and bids
Taking the lead with guidance of the Technical Director on the development of Design deliverables by you and your team
Providing technical guidance on Electrical or Mechanical matters to the wider project team.
Provide support during the building and installation process, ensuring that the project is delivered properly and according to design specifications
Line management and development of assigned M &E Technical staff
You will be suitably qualified in relation to the Building Services, Telecoms or Datacentre sectors and have demonstrable experience of working with electrical and/or mechanical systems with a sound technical knowledge. You will also have proven experience of working with a variety of systems.
You will understand how a project is delivered to enable assistance with or completion of tenders to the designs developed.
You will take on a leading role in aspects of projects from scoping and detailed design right through to implementation, ensuring compliance with Client Specifications and current regulatory standards, with a strong focus on low-carbon solutions.
A good understanding of financial procedures, contract management, surveying skills and project stages.
- 3+ years' experience in Building services, Telecoms or Datacentre M&E environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- AutoCad experience advantageous but not necessary
- Strong computer and mathematical skills
- Flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to change
- Able to work in a team environment
- Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative
- Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering / Building Services Engineering or equivalent
