We now have an exciting new role for an outstanding **Special Projects Fundraiser **(Fixed term contract). Reporting to the Senior Fundraising lead within the Marketing Directorate, with the support of the Executive, Senior Management team and Board of Trustees, you’ll lead on the management of income for our field programme partner - Madagasikara Voakajy, a Malagasy biodiversity organisation dedicated to the conservation of endemic vertebrates and their habitats in Madagascar.

The person appointed will create a project specific fundraising strategy, and the programme of fundraising focussed cultivation and stewardship events within this, that will support the missions of both Madagasikara Voakajy and Chester Zoo.

Focusing on core revenue and fundraising for projects, this role seeks to develop and maintain a portfolio of trusts and statutory funders, alongside attracting new corporate supporters. They will work with our team of conservationists both at Chester Zoo and in Madagascar to train, engage, and support targets.

The post holder will be responsible an initial budget of around £150,000 per annum (with incremental target increases each year) but will be measured on donor care and engagement levels.

There is huge potential and possibilities for income, but also achievable expectations of what it takes to create and shape new income streams.

We are currently recruiting for a Fundraising & Communications Assistant who will be based in Madagascar. This new role will support and report into The Special Project Fundraising role, as well as into a Manager in Madagascar, supporting on content creation and identifying stewardship and cultivation opportunities.

**We’re looking for someone who can**:

- Develop a prospect pipeline by identifying new Trust and Foundation and Corporate prospects, undertaking research to identify, cultivate and manage five and six figure funding opportunities that are aligned to Chester Zoo and Madagasikara Voakajy’s strategic objectives and the Zoo’s Conservation Masterplan.
- Secure budget-relieving, ideally unrestricted funding by managing and cultivating high level donor relationships with charitable trusts, foundations, corporate contacts and individuals, in order to identify large-scale funding opportunities. Managing prospecting and pipeline for the above through to onboarding and relationship management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with funders by providing professional account management and two-way communication, growing affinity with Madagascar Voakajy and Chester Zoo. Regular reviewing and evaluating where needed, providing regular updates and high quality reports as well as organising visits to Chester Zoo and Madagascar. Supporting directors and trustees with cultivation and stewardship by producing excellent research, support resources and briefings.
- Work alongside the wider Fundraising and Field Programme Team, where relevant to introduce a fundraising-focussed events which will diversify our giving audiences, support our priority campaigns, raise awareness of charitable activity and embrace new trends in fundraising.
- Keep excellent records of fundraising income against target, along with monitoring that data in order to improve key fundraising areas, maintaining a clean, compliant and workable fundraising database and providing high-quality stewardship and communications to all stakeholders. Keeping up to date on all regulatory aspects of fundraising.

**Our Requirements**

**Essential Experience of**:

- Securing donations from corporate fundraising and/or trusts and foundations
- Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, building long-term donor relationships and managing a portfolio of accounts
- Writing compelling proposals
- Producing quality reports for funders
- Effectively managing a prospect pipeline

**Although not essential, the following would be desirable**:

- Be open to international travel in order to visit the project and support building capacity there.
- A working knowledge of French or Malagasy would be of benefit, but not essential
