**Job title**: Medical Receptionist Reports to: Reception Manager Hours: 30 hours per week Job summary To be a part of a reception team providing a friendly and efficient front of house service to the patients of the GP surgery. Job responsibilities: Reception To receive, assist and direct patients so they access the appropriate service they need. To answer the telephone promptly, dealing with the caller in a friendly and efficient manner. Assist the Senior Receptionist in keeping the Reception area tidy and ensuring that the Reception and Waiting area look professional.

Administration Work in accordance with all practice protocols. Process daily repeat prescriptions. Pulling and filing of patients notes for various reasons and processes. Filing post in medical records by scanning.

Stock up clinical rooms as required. Labelling of all medical records. Liaising with Doctor on Call for all patient related matters that may be urgent. Be familiar with various Reception processes such as the registration of new patients and deductions of patients removed from the practice list.

To take a positive and proactive attitude to suggesting changes for improvement of processes. To be mindful of the security arrangements of the practice, and to take responsibility for unlocking and locking the surgery as appropriate. To participate in audit as directed. To take on other tasks as directed by the Senior Receptionist in line with the grading of the post.

Information about patients, carers, colleagues or other health workers, or the business of the practice, may only be divulged to authorised people in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data. Health and Safety The post holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health and Safety Policy, to include: Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines. Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.

Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills. Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards. Reporting potential risks identified. Quality The post holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk. Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance.

Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs. Effectively manage own time, workload and resources. Communication: The post holder will recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will: Communicate well with other team members. Communicate well with patients and carers, in a friendly and appropriate manner.

Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly. Attend all practice and reception meetings as required.
