I am a young man in my late 20’s and I live in Galashiels. I am currently living with my parents, and am looking for a support worker to spend up to 6 hours social time with me over two or three days a week. I really enjoy being outdoors, going for walks and drives. I would really like someone who is able to take me fishing too. Due to my autism, I need reassurance and guidance with decision making and social skills. I can become anxious, or not understand the processes involved with a task so need someone who is appreciative of the need to be clear and patient with me. I am hoping to move into my own home very soon, and would like you to support me with settling in.

**Tasks**:

- Spending time getting to know me - this may need to be a gradual process;
Willingness to spend time outdoors, going for drives and long walks, having coffee and going fishing;
- Supporting me with daily decision making, and ensuring I understand the processes and consequences of my choices;
- Assisting me with any other tasks which aid me to live as independently as I can.

**Skills/Experience**:

- You will be cheerful and self-motivated with a good sense of humour;
- You will be honest, reliable and able to maintain confidentiality;
- You will be supportive and sensitive to the issues having autism can bring;
- Ideally you will have access to your own vehicle, with appropriate insurance in place.

**Hours of Work**:

- Up to 6 hours per week, split over 2 or 3 days;

**Rate of Pay**:

- £11.50 per hour;
- 5.6 weeks Annual Leave entitlement, calculated on a pro rata basis.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 6 per week

**Salary**: £11.50 per hour

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)

Work Location: In person
