An exciting opportunity to join our service as a Recruit to Train CBT Trainee, part of Health Education England (HEE) funded Recruit to Train Programme in partnership with the University of Derby as part of the strategy to increase access to evidence-based interventions to children and young people with anxiety and/or depression.

You will complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy working specifically with young people and work 3 days in clinical setting as part of your study. All clinical work is supervised (1- 1) by a service supervisor and also a University supervisor (peer supervision).

As part of your training, you will be expected to attend Derby University 2 days per week where they offer a blended approach to learning.

We have 4 posts available to be based within either Telford or Shrewsbury.

There is a non negotiable start date for service induction on 8th January 2024 followed by 2 weeks of university attendance commencing 15th January 2024. You must be able to travel to University of Derby as part of your induction and throughout your training.

This is a training role within the Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP-IAPT). The post-holder will work within the CAMH service providing interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of CYP-IAPT practice along with evidence based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.

We are seeking highly motivated & enthusiastic mental health practitioners to work & train within our service. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based CBT. The post holder will work with young people with different cultural backgrounds & ages, using interpreters when necessary & should be committed to equity, diversity & inclusion. If you have suitable experience/qualifications & an interest in working with young people in a mental health environment & would like to further develop your skills, this could be the post for you.

This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a very busy work & study schedule. You will be an employee at the service but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level training, you will be required to study & perform at academic level. Applicants must be prepared to work towards their studies outside of protected study time (such as on weekends & after work). Protected study time or teaching days are typically two days a week during term (with possibility of extra university days near start) & will be a mixture of in person & online sessions. Applicants must be willing to travel to Derby to attend their lectures.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment for and provision of CBT intervention in accordance with service and University guidance and supervision based on formulation of the person’s needs and the development of a relevant treatment plan based upon negotiated goals and relevant evidence-based interventions.

The post holder, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, will provide CBT interventions to support the person to meet their agreed goals and coordinate and/ or participate in the review of progress towards those goals, utilising recommended outcome measures, involving the service user and any identified carer throughout the intervention.
