Summary of Duties
As the Deli Cook responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of foods typically served in our deli or sandwich bar in accordance with our set menu. This role requires culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Deli Cook is required to work in collaboration with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
Key accountabilities
- Food preparation
- prepare and portion ingredients based on the menu dishes daily. In accordance with recipes and quality standards and ensuring proper temperatures.
- Food Safety
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times, including proper handling, storage, and labelling of food products. This will be the responsibility of the cook.
- Cleanliness: maintain cleanliness and organisation of cooking area, equipment, and storage areas to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.
- Inventory management: monitor and restock ingredients and supplies to ensure adequate inventory levels and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Quality Control: Inspect food products for freshness, quality, and consistency, and promptly address any issues or concerns to maintain high standards.
Essential Criteria
- Must have held the position of a Cook for a minimum of 3 years.
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on hot food style counters
- Can demonstrate knowledge of temperature checks, storage and labelling food products
- Have Food Safety Level 2
- Must be able to demonstrate their knowledge of ordering and inventory management
- Attention to detail for quality of food
Desirable Criteria
- HACCAP certification
- Cooking qualification
- Allergen & Intolerance Certificate

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
**Experience**:
- Cooking: 3 years (preferred)
- Kitchen experience: 2 years (preferred)
