**About us**

Bader College, located at historic Herstmonceux Castle, East Sussex, is the overseas campus of Queen’s University, Canada. The campus occupies a 600-acre estate, including a range of academic, residential, and recreational facilities. Our dedicated faculty and staff provide exceptional academic programming for undergraduate and postgraduate students from Canada and around the world. We also serve as a venue for international conferences and meetings. Our wholly owned trading subsidiary, Herstmonceux Castle Enterprises Limited (HCE), is responsible for running the gardens and grounds, corporate events, and other functions.

**About the role**

The buildings & facilities team are responsible for the maintenance of our Grade 1 listed, 15th century castle, our student residences, and other buildings on site, as well as managing building projects and ensuring the health and safety of all our students, visitors, and guests. The team is central to ensuring that buildings and facilities are fit for purpose and meet business needs.

We are seeing an individual who will work collaboratively as part of a team, to provide an exceptional level of service to Bader College and Herstmonceux Castle Estate Limited (HCE). Dealing with general maintenance duties as part of the buildings and facilities team. Providing Bader College and HCE with facilities maintenance support and enabling the delivery of an outstanding educational, working, and events environment.

This will include undertaking planned and reactive maintenance repairs under the direction of the Head of Buildings & Facilities and to provide effective support to the Head of Buildings & Facilities undertaking scheduled Pre Planned Maintenance (PPM) activity and reactive maintenance tasks.

The Buildings & Facilities department consists of three members of staff (4 FTE):

- Head of Buildings & Facilities (1FTE)
- Buildings & Facilities Assistants (2 FTE)

**Qualifications and experience**
- Qualifications_

- Carry out semi-skilled domestic maintenance tasks
- Clearly describe and communicate situations that require remedial action
- Use hand and power tools to carry out domestic maintenance tasks.
- Problem solving with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions to routine maintenance tasks
- Ability to work alone or as part of a larger team, and with other departments when necessary
- Professional and flexible approach to all aspects of work (required to be part of the emergency response team, including out of hours if required)
- Fully familiar with H&S regulations in relation to working with plant and machinery (including power tools).

Knowledge and experience
- Relevant work experience in building/maintenance services within a customer facing environment
- An understanding of basic plumbing systems and the ability to carry out basic plumbing maintenance duties
- Experience of working within a busy and varied maintenance environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with people across an organisation
- Practical approach with a proven, hands-on background in undertaking semi-skilled maintenance work.

**Compensation**

The post is full-time, and normal working hours will be 40 hours per week over 5 days.

**Salary: £28,000 plus benefits.**
