**Job summary**:
The Senior Education and Engagement Outreach Officer (East of England) role engages and educates the public through face to face and/or digital delivery. The officer will work with schools and community groups across the East of England to help them engage with the UK Parliament.

The holder of this exciting position will establish opportunities to deliver inspiring and informative outreach sessions to a range of community and school audiences. The community work will focus particularly on those who are disengaged or disaffected from political engagement.

The majority of their time will be spent delivering sessions across the East of England and because of this the officer is expected to live within the East of England. The officer will take responsibility for organising and managing their own time which will include evening and weekend work. There will be a team day in Westminster once a month.

**Job description**:
Some key responsibilities of this post include;
- To contribute to the expansion of the outreach programme within the East of England by building new - and maintaining existing - links with schools, colleges and community groups identifying new opportunities for engagement and arranging and attending meetings with contacts. The key focus is direct delivery through assemblies and workshops.
- To develop and manage ongoing relationships with external partners in order to create opportunities for community outreach sessions with audiences who are less likely to engage politically
- To carry out admin tasks such as gathering feedback, maintaining a contact database and other admin tasks as directed
- To liaise with other public-facing teams, particularly the Campaigns, Teacher Training and Select Committee engagement teams, to support their delivery of public engagement events and programmes

**Person specification**:

- Experience in communicating complex information in a group setting to audiences of all ages (including school age and adults) and all abilities
- An ability to respond to challenging situations and to communicate effectively with highly disengaged audiences, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion
- Experience of working flexibly and autonomously through effective organisation and time-management skills. Proven ability to deliver against agreed targets through effective prioritisation and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A commitment to practising continuing professional development. Experience of gathering feedback and implementing this to improve best practice and outcomes in either the community or education sector.
- Ability to promote and market outreach services to new and existing audiences, and experience of initiating and maintaining effective working relationships with schools and community organisations (for example, third sector bodies and networks, campaigning organisations and community groups)
- (Desirable) A passion for democratic engagement. An understanding of the English education system, and related curriculum and/or a good understanding of community organisations / third sector within England.

Due to the nature of the role the officer is expected to hold a full UK driving license.
