Walker Rubber are searching for a future Sales Engineer and as such are looking for an apprentice / trainee to join the team. If you have a genuine curiosity in how things work and solving problems, whilst having an ability to make conversation with a wide range of people, this could be the opportunity you are looking for. You will have a large appetite to learn and develop whilst being hardworking, ambitious, and driven. We are a small, hardworking, straight-talking team and it is important we find the right person to join the team.

The apprentice / trainee will complete a Level 4 qualification in sales. This qualification will primarily be completed on the job but will also require some at home study. More specific, business focused training will also be provided, ranging from using a CRM / business management system, health and safety, reading engineering drawings to creating your own engineering drawings. By the end of the training the apprentice will have a strong and confident ability in handling all aspects of the sales process. Following completion, there is scope to progress onto a Level 6 qualification in business-to-business sales.

Walker Rubber is a manufacturer and supplier of industrial polymer products (rubber and polyurethane). The business operates in a wide number of industry sectors, providing polymer-based solutions to a vast range of engineering problems. Specialising in the manufacture of extrusion, mouldings and gaskets, the business is uniquely positioned to provide bespoke solutions on an exceptionally fast turnaround.

**What you will do**:

- **Administration & Support**_
- Answering the phone and handling inbound calls
- Managing and Coordinating Customer Queries
- Managing and Coordinating Internal Issues
- Creating new customers in the business system
- Maintaining customer contact details in the business system
- Maintaining supplier contact details in the business system

**Sales**
- Handling customer enquiries and reviewing technical requirements
- Creating parts/products in the business system
- Creating and maintaining part/product datasheets
- Creating part/product engineering drawings using CAD (Fusion 360)
- Preparing quotations with associated documentation and costings
- Delivering quotations to customers through the appropriate medium
- Creating and processing customer orders
- Updating customer price lists where required
- Following up on quotations and managing through to order placement
- Calling lapsed customer base to actively promote the company and reengage customer for new business
- Researching and identifying potential new business opportunities and markets
- Calling potential new businesses to introduce and promote our company
- Working with the marketing team on creating and reviewing material to actively promote the business through a number of mediums

**Purchasing**
- Managing and Coordinating supplier quotation requests
- Raising purchase orders where required
- Managing suppliers to ensure on time delivery of orders
- Management of ad-hoc business supplies, stock, reordering, usage etc

**Essential Personal Characteristics**
- Not phased by working in an engineering / manufacturing environment
- Self-starter, ability to manage own workload and prioritise under pressure.
- Self-discipline, organised, proactive and the ability to make and justify own decisions.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Adaptable and unflappable
- Able to use initiative with good problem-solving skills
- Someone with a positive attitude and a can-do approach
- Happy to turn their hand at anything required, to ensure the company keeps running smoothly

**Key Requirements**
- Higher education qualification, eg, Level 3 in Business Administration or A-Levels
- Exceptional telecommunication and written skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Given the importance for teamwork and the size of the business, the job will be office based full time. However, we work a 4-day week, 0730-1700 Monday to Thursday and Tuesday to Friday on the bank holiday weeks.

**What is our recruitment process: -**

2) Complete the Indeed tests within a week of applying

3) We will review the results of the test with the CVs. Anyone scoring "Highly Proficient" in both tests we will contact for a face to face meeting.

4) Face-to-face meeting. 60-minute written assessment. Factory Tour. 30-minute interview

5) Half day trial (0730-1200).
