**Base Location**:Perth, Scotland
**Salary**: £49,599 - £56,757 depending on skills and experience, + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
**Working Pattern**: Permanent | Full Time
As a Control Room Team Leader reporting to Operations Centre Management within SSE Renewables, you’ll be responsible for leading a team of Control Room Technicians and Operatives carrying out real-time Operational Control of Wind Turbines and other generating plant/apparatus, from our 24/7 operations centre in Perth, Scotland.
As an experienced operator and proven team leader, your focus will be to ensure the team carry out safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our generating Plant/Apparatus. You will have both direct and indirect influence on the optimisation of plant availability, revenue and compliance.
Some of your main accountabilities will include:
- Line management responsibilities for multiple control room Technicians and Operators, leading the performance optimisation and development of direct reports, maintaining adherence to company policy, management standards and procedures.
- Operational responsibilities, contributing as a fully capable and fully authorised operator, controlling and despatching generating plant, enabling safe local asset interventions, and maintaining compliance, safety and asset integrity through responses.
- Maximise Revenue from operation of assets, adhering to grid code, operating procedures, ancillary services/contracts.
- Business improvement responsibilities as both a key stakeholder and project lead for people, process, systems, and SHE related continuous improvement projects.
- Available to travel to Onshore sites and office locations to support business improvement and maintain effective engagement with stakeholders as required.
As this is position requires partial contribution to a shift rota system, you should be flexible, located within 45 minutes commuting by car, and able to commit to a shift work when required as part of 24-hour cover.
**What do I need?**
To be successful in this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience with a control room and operational environment as a leader, having held responsibilities aligned with those detailed above.
- Qualified to minimum HNC (ideally HND) level in an engineering discipline with industry knowledge and experience relating to Electro-mechanical generating Plant/Apparatus and/or generation, trading or distribution of electricity within the Energy sector.
- Expert user and superuser of multiple software platforms and supervisory systems such as Distribution Management and SCADA systems. Also, an aptitude to learn new systems promptly is essential, as are strong communication and IT skills.
- Practical experience and strong knowledge of industry codes and safety rules such as national Grid Code and Wind Turbine Safety Rules, having held authorisation under Safe Systems of Work or industry recognised safety rules.
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads positively without compromising key responsibilities, to be flexible, highly motivated and have a genuine passion for the industry.
