**NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - FULL TRAINING PROVIDED**

**JOB OVERVIEW**

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker who is compassionate, supportive with strong communication skills to join the organisation’s friendly and welcoming team.

Working as a Support Worker you will join a service which provides outcome focused support in a welcoming, safe, non-judgemental environment which is conducive to the personal growth and wellbeing of the residents.

As a Support Worker you will work in a holistic way which considers all aspects of resident’s lives, rather than focusing solely on their diagnosis. The organisation works collaboratively with agencies and services in the community and involve the residentsin a recovery model approach. This involves the use of regularly reviewed support plans tailored to personal needs and wishes.

**How will you make a difference as a Support Worker within the organisation?**
- Promoting independence and empowerment at all times in order for individuals to recover from mental illness and lead, full satisfying lives
- Provide key worker support to individuals living with mental illness, including one to one or group support, liaising with other mental health agencies, with and on behalf of people who use our services
- Enable individuals to self-manage their resources and to undertake activities of daily living
- Develop a rapport based on respect and honesty, working within clear professional boundaries and the organisation’s Mental Illness Code of Conduct
- Enable and encouraging individuals to find out about local services and facilities within their community and facilitate access to alternative services where specific needs are identified
- Be familiar with individuals Care/Recovery Plans and support people who use the services in achieving their goals
- Carry out all needs assessments, individual safety, and support planning
- Work with individuals to proactively develop, review, monitor, and adapt support and safety plans
- Liaise with other external agencies, complimentary therapies, and community groups on behalf of people who use the services

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**

**Desirable but not essential**:

- Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity
- Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and embedding the ethos of recovery into your own practice
- The ability to proactively make a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans to meet these needs
- Work independently and as part of a team with a commitment and belief that your work makes a difference
