This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic AHP clinical leader to work within a highly supportive leadership team and structure.

You will provide clinical and professional leadership for AHPs from across a variety of professional groups (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Music Therapy, Art Therapy), who work in the Acute and Community Directorate.

Working alongside the Directorate Leadership Team, you will be responsible for championing and leading AHP’s, ensuring AHP skills are utilised effectively, that AHP’s are able to evaluate, improve and contribute to the development and improvement of services.

The exciting range of AHPs are an essential ingredient of our multidisciplinary teams and there is a real commitment and drive to ensure AHP services are coordinated and enhance the range of professions and support services to deliver high quality services.

You will need to be HCPC registered, with relevant experience, and committed to quality improvement and have the drive and energy to bring about positive change.

- To clinically and professionally lead AHPs working in the Acute and Community Directorate, including input to recruitment, supervision, and the continuing professional development (education and training) of these staff within the multidisciplinary context.
- To be a core member of the Acute and Community Directorate management and leadership team and provide specialist clinical advice.
- To have oversight of the planning and delivery of high quality, proactive, responsive and evidence based AHP services within the Acute and Community Directorate, in line with the SHSC Clinical and Social Care Strategy.
- To provide specialist AHP advice to planning, development and evaluation of services within the Directorate, holding responsibility for defined projects as required.
- To provide supervision of AHP (profession specific) students on practice placement.
- To deputise for the Deputy Lead AHP when necessary.
- To maintain professional registration as an AHP with HCPC.

Professional Leadership Supervision and Appraisal
- Provide professional leadership to AHP staff within the Acute and Community Directorate including input to recruitment, supervision, and development of these staff within the multidisciplinary context.
- Provide professional advice for AHP staff across the Directorate including recruitment, appraisals, job planning, setting objectives and disciplinary matters.
- To supervise and manage uni-professional Professional/Clinical Leads clinically and professionally.
- To demonstrate leadership skills through the management of designated projects.
- To act as a member of the senior AHP leadership team.
- To prepare and present AHP reports to the Directorate Information Performance Quality Review (IPQR) meeting.

Clinical
- To act as a source of clinical expertise.
- Provide expertise and professional advice, guidance, and consultation to AHP staff and other professionals contributing directly to service user care and treatment.
- To commit to evidence-based practice and use research opportunities to support the efficacy of therapeutic interventions.
- Develop and maintain own expertise and agreed level of expertise of team members/AHP staff by updating own specialist clinical knowledge and skills.
- To work in partnership with the Trust wide Peer Support Lead and advise operational teams and services if the support and supervision required by Peer Support Workers

Communication
- To establish and maintain robust communication networks with staff at all levels across the Directorate, the AHP senior leaders and the wider Trust as required. Liaise at all levels within the organisation and with relevant external organisations.
- To develop and maintain good communication with service users, their carers and Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
- To develop and maintain effective professional communication structures.
- Develop effective working relationships with senior clinical and managerial staff across teams and services, and proactively advance, develop and implement trust policies and Strategy.
