Digital Print Coating Operative

Baltic Recruitment are currently recruiting for a **Digital Print Coating Operative **on a Temp to Perm basis, to work for a highly reputable client based in **Shildon. **Responsible for the daily operation of the continuous coating and curing process line and operate the line at targeted production rate maintaining quality and minimising waste.
**Digital Print Coating Operative Main Duties & Responsibilities**:
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the roll coating and curing machinery. Maintain a higher degree of performance in operation of the coating and curing process and ensure safe, efficient and economical function.
- Work with the process team to ensure operating standards are met.
- Operate all required equipment to process raw materials into finished products while meeting safety, productivity, quality, cost and service requirements.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to perform multiple job functions effectively.
- Perform manufacturing operations in accordance with SOP and work instructions.
- Actively support continuous improvement and Lean activities involved with the LS implementation.
- Operate machine control screen, slitting, material handling, and packing & shipping equipment.
- Perform quality checks and record results. Proactively respond to any quality deviation.
- Perform operator maintenance and assist with other maintenance activities.
- Process orders via computer/manual systems and respond to internal and/or external inquires in a professional manner.
- Set up and operate the coating machine in cooperation with the Print Operator,
- Perform daily machine cleaning, setting and calibration.
- Optimize the daily use of production equipment according to SOP’s.
- Providing training assistance to other employees on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Operating and maintaining coating equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Minimizing equipment downtime through preventative maintenance procedures.
- Load raw material into machine and unload finished product.
- Check quality and quantity of all raw materials being processed against work orders to assure the correct material is being run.
- Stage raw stock or process material to their proper locations within the Production area.
- Check various inventories needed in daily operations and advise the supervisor if low and needed, i.e., gloves, blades, shop towels, etc.
- Identify all problems associated with the operation, equipment and materials being processed to the Shift Supervisor.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks and waste removal within department/group and assist with other areas as required. Maintain clean room environment.
- Continuously review current processes and search out improvement methods to improve product/process quality and reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary work that adds no value to the work or process.
- Assist and support other team members in meeting department and site goals.
- Work with the R&D department to assist in setting up the line, in order to perform experiments and run trials.
- Perform tests and tolerance checks for multiple characteristics using standard measuring devices and making some judgments against not readily measurable standards.
- Meet production schedules and program production sequences for optimal productivity.
- Report any malfunctions or abnormalities and make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment.
- Adjust set up and process operations accordingly.
- Set up Coating Machine for run, including preparation of solution for coating operation as per Production Batch Record.
- Make any machine adjustments necessary during the coating as required.
- Visually inspect Coating machine and mixers as it is running to verify the machine is running within normal and safe operation.
- Take in process physical measurements throughout the coating run. Document these measurements in Production Batch Record and make sure they are meeting the specification of Production Batch Record.
- Make sure all paperwork is complete and accurate throughout and after coating process.
- Completing relevant paperwork, adhering to all MSDS.
- Control of Materials, checking the materials on the line are correct.
- Must communicate with Manager, Lead, QC and other Operators.

- High learning ability required carrying out a large number of manual assembly and machine related duties at quality and quantity standards.
- Excellent visual inspection required to identify any defects.
- Computer skills.
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.
- Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / educate team in a timely manner.
