**What we're looking for in our Housing Support Worker**:
Peabody are looking for a Housing Support Worker to work in our Braintree Hostel, accommodating single homeless and an additional Floating Support service for temporary accommodation.

Whether you have experience paid or unpaid, we are looking for people with life skills and a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable adults. No two days will be the same as you support customers with all aspects of their individual requirements. Knowledge of the benefit system and previous experience or knowledge of supporting people, are desirable but not essential. Good IT skills are essential.

**About the Housing Support Worker Role**:
Braintree Homeless service provides accommodation for a range of homeless households (vulnerable single adults, families) who require support before moving on into independent living. Tenants are offered help to develop skills such as budgeting, setting up home and seeking employment or training. Staff also provide advice and support to help tenants gain access to other services and organisations. For example, they will help tenants to access health services, social care or specialist services.

The service has a number of sites all within easy reach of Braintree Town Centre, including a hostel and self-contained properties.

**_This role will require an Enhanced DBS check. _**

**What you can expect to be doing as our Housing Support Worker**:

- Provide/offer support to an individual tenant consistent with the Peabody principles. Promote the integration of the tenant into the local community and provide opportunities by which they will be enabled to develop skills and have access to the widest possible range of experiences. Ensure that the tenants needs are met by liaising with other organisations providing access to community-based services and resources. Ensure that the participation by the tenant in the management of all household tasks, through teaching and practical support.
