Senior Buyer

Our Curtiss Wright state-of-the-art facility at Bournemouth Airport is looking for a Sr Buyer to join the team. The Sr Buyer is a dynamic and energetic strategic buyer capable of ensuring all purchasing activities are completed in a controlled and professional manner. The Sr Buyer shall operate in a fast paced environment and shall be capable of being flexible in managing and prioritising a number of issues.

Your Challenge:
- Purchase components as required and directed in line with requirements generated via the MRP system, ensuring OTIF requirements are achieved.- Review MRP requirements and make informed decisions from outcome.- Undertake operational tasks as required e.g. proactively expedite orders to ensure there is no impact to operational demand and purchase order placement and ongoing management.- With a full understanding of our subcontractor capabilities, issue Requests for Quotations in line with business demand for current or new business opportunities.- Contribute and lead supplier negotiations, with support of the Purchasing Manager- Lead the development of suppliers in line with the needs of the business with specific focus on Growth and Innovation.- Establish and maintain supplier development programmes to ensure optimal performance, and chair cross functional Quarterly Business Review meetings with key suppliers.- Support the Purchasing Manager with the selection and development of preferred suppliers and collaborative partnerships.- Interface with other departments to resolve problems.- Implement plans to mitigate risk in the supply chain.

Your Expertise:
Essential- Hold MCIPS or working towards MCIPS Level 4/5.- Computer literate and competent with MS Office.- Working knowledge of MRP systems.- Experience of working in the Aerospace industry with specific exposure of purchasing of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies.- Diligent and well organised.- Good negotiation skills.

Desirable- Degree in Business related topics.- Relevant experience in a commodity or senior buying role.- Strong leadership and motivational skills.- Ability to read engineering drawings.- Experience in writing Frame Agreements / Supply Agreements.- An engineering background/qualification is a plus.
