The Successor Programme will deliver a new generation of submarines to carry the UK’s nuclear deterrent. It is the largest programme in Defence with a budget of £34 billion.
**The role**
Due to our continued growth, a rare and exciting opportunity has presented itself within Babcock Rosyth. We are looking for a high calibre multi-disciplined Fabricator / Dresser to join our team and support this high-profile project.
As a Fabricator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. If you can bring technical skills and a safe working attitude, then we can provide you with one of the most exciting engineering projects this country has to offer.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Weld dressing, utilise hand tools such as grinders, Sanders files or abrasive discs to shape, smooth and blend the welds. This includes removing any high sports, rough edges or surface and imperfections to achieve the desired appearance and quality
- Collaboration, work closely with welders, welding inspectors and other team members to ensure the dressed weld meets the required specification quality standards and project objectives
- Develop working relationships with work colleagues
- Work will require diligence and attention to detail
- Etching of weld material
- Work closely with the NDT technicians.
This role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, onsite at Rosyth with opportunity to work shifts.
**Essential experience of the Fabricator / Dresser**:
- Must be compliant with hand tools
- Must have experience dressing welds
- Can read complex drawings
- Proven knowledge of the practices and standards associated with the NDT
- High level of attention to detail
- Good communication and people skills
- Well organised and able to work to tight deadlines
- Proactive but with the ability to react quickly when necessary to meet challenging objectives
- Ability to read and understand technical standards and drawings
- Ability to make decisions on own initiative
- Ability to analyse problems and identify practical solutions
**Qualifications of the Fabricator / Dresser**:

As this position is supporting the Successor Programme, you must be a sole UK national with full security clearance (SC) including ITAR and PSA. We are happy to provide further detail on this if you require.
