We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Housing Apprentice to join our team.

Providing support to officers delivering Housing services, you will learn about the work the team does, shadowing various colleagues to gain an excellent understanding of the sector and set you up for a career in housing and property management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Providing support to officers delivering Housing services provided by Braintree District Council.
- Liaising with customers via telephone, face to face and electronically.
- Responding to enquiries and requests from internal and external partners or agencies.
- Providing customers with information about accessing the Council’s on-line services.
- Dealing with enquiries from other agencies and liaising with nominated contacts as appropriate.

You’ll divide your working days between:

- Housing Options Team: these officers work with customers experiencing housing difficulties. Their objective is to help keep people in their existing homes or, where that isn’t possible, to help them secure alternative accommodation.
- Research & Development Team: these officers work across the -Housing and Community Service, conducting research, identifying trends, producing reports/strategy documents and supporting colleagues with policy work.

We currently have a hybrid working pattern, which works really well and means we spend some days in the office and other days working from home.

If you don’t have a suitable home workspace or if you’d prefer to work from the office every day then that’s not a problem at all. While you’re learning, during your induction period, you’ll be office based.
