- Wiltshire Police are looking for committed, dynamic people to become part of their Custody Team working as a Detention Officer on a full time basis. Applications are welcome form previously or currently trained detention officers (re-joiners or transferees) or from someone who is new to the role. For re-joiners or transferees could you provide at your early convenience documents of any role related qualifications/training eg: Data Protection training, DO training matrix, NVQ in Custody Care, First Aid, Personal Safety Training).
Full Time Custody Detention Officer (CDO)
Vacancies exist at our Custody Units in Swindon and Melksham.
This is a W6 role the salary starting at £24,996 rising to £26,004 in 2 increments with (20% unsociable hours allowance and weekend working enhancement)

Interviews will commence on 12th July to 18th July 2023.
Role Requirements
Working alongside police officers and police staff, the main duties of a Detention Officer are the provision of custodial services, administrative duties and detained person welfare duties in accordance with legislation and force policy as well as ensuring the efficient operation of the custody unit within the doctrines of authorised professional practice and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
To perform these roles you will need excellent communication, problem solving, administration and IT skills and be able to deal with a variety of different people in what can be a physically demanding role. Successful applicants should be able to work with minimum supervision whilst also performing as part of a team. They must hold a full current UK driving licence. Experience of work in a similar nature would also be a distinct advantage but not essential.
Training will commence in September 2023 (exact date to be confirmed0 for a maximum of 3 weeks, depending on previous experience and qualifications, which may be delivered in Swindon, Melksham, Devizes or virtually.
