Peer Support Barnes is a safe space for people with dementia where they can share their experiences and support one another. Group members have noted that it helps to improve their mental wellbeing and gives them a sense of community. So, by volunteering at peer support, you will be helping to facilitate a space that makes a tangible difference to people living with dementia.

Your duties will include greeting group members and making them feel welcome; preparing and distributing refreshments (teas and coffees); and helping the facilitator to prepare the space.

You'll enjoy this role if somebody who has a desire to help others. You’ll have good verbal communication and listening skills and be someone who can respond empathetically. Importantly you’ll enjoy meeting new people and being part of a team. If you have these qualities, then you will thrive in this voluntary post.
