Key result areas Lead the Research and Knowledge team to ensure that work streams and programmes are planned and carried out effectively.

Lead the provision of an efficient, safe, effective, and high quality professional and well-coordinated research service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation. Act on behalf of the Trust to provide a strategic perspective in the development of an integrated approach to R&K at a local, regional, and national level. Lead processes which systematically improve the quality and quantity of research and development activity in the Trust to optimise external research funding. Be responsible for the budget setting, expenditure and monitoring of the R&K budget and the multiple funding streams and associated contracts.

Ensure the coordination of assurance of compliance to national and organisational standards in relation to research management and governance. Work to ensure that best practice in research management is both recognised and implemented. Develop and maintain systems to ensure the regulatory compliance of Trust wide research activity and Knowledge and Library services, including research conducted where the Trust acts as sponsor. Build and strengthen working relationships with local, regional and national academic, NHS, local authority and voluntary organisations.

Ensure that research activity is linked to the strategic agenda of the Trust and supports improvements in clinical effectiveness and quality improvement. Work as part of a flexible and cohesive senior management team and take lead responsibility for corporate issues outside their immediate sphere of responsibility where necessary. To represent Oxleas at external meetings e.g., CRN Partnership Board, Clinical Senate.
