This is a great opportunity as a** Receptionist **in a Medical Practice based in Durrington, where you will play a crucial role in providing administrative support and delivering exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and the primary healthcare team. As the **Receptionist**, you will input and retrieve data using computer systems, manage inquiries and messages, maintain a clean and organized reception area, assist with patient registration and appointment scheduling, handle prescription requests, manage filing systems, and maintain stock control for stationery and consumables. This position requires strong computer skills, effective communication abilities, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach.

In your new role as the **Receptionist**, you will be responsible for:

- Inputting and managing data using computer systems, such as patient registration details, contacts, prescription requests, and test results. Familiarity with practice-specific computer systems and proficiency in software like MS Word and MS Excel is essential.
- Providing excellent reception service: Greeting and assisting patients and visitors, making eye contact, and acknowledging them in a timely manner. Courteously directing patients, answering telephone calls promptly, and following practice protocols for managing the reception area and phone system.
- Handling inquiries, messages, and liaising: Receiving and logging messages, ensuring important information is recorded accurately and promptly shared with the appropriate healthcare team members. Responding to routine requests for assistance and directing non-routine inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization: Keeping the reception area, consulting rooms, waiting areas, and kitchen clean and tidy. Ensuring adequate stationery supplies are available and disposing of any unwanted or expired items according to standard operating procedures.
- Assisting with patient registration and appointments: Explaining practice arrangements to patients seeking registration, providing necessary forms and literature, and ensuring all registration documents are completed promptly. Using the practice appointment system to schedule and manage patient appointments efficiently, considering the range of services provided.
- Handling prescription-related tasks: Processing prescription requests, issuing and dispensing medications accurately, and ensuring prescriptions are signed by the appropriate healthcare professional. This includes managing repeat prescriptions, arranging collection or delivery of medications, and handling payment transactions.
- Managing filing systems: Retrieving and filing medical records, adhering to alphabetical order, and maintaining organization. Assembling records for reports or examinations, updating patient information on record covers, and filing correspondence promptly.
- Maintaining stock control: Monitoring and maintaining stock levels for stationery and consumables, ensuring an adequate supply for the reception and dispensing areas. This includes identifying responsible individuals, following ordering procedures, and checking received items for accuracy.
