**Job Purpose**:To deliver youth and community work in priority wards within Ashford

Aspire Teaching Assistant

**Working Hours**:37.5 per week - Term Time only + 2 weeks

**Salary: 18k-20k dependant on experience - pro rata**

Uprising Youth and Community are a growing Christian youth work charity based in Ashford, Kent. With over 10 years of experience in the local area we are looking to recruit an Aspire Teaching Assistant.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about breaking the link between school exclusion and social exclusion, who is committed to delivering the best in education to the most vulnerable children and has a strong understanding of behavioural management skills.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:
**Aspire Assistant**:
**Young People**:

- To serve as a positive role model for the young people that access the programme.
- To actively develop and mentor learners where the opportunities arise to be a positive influence with their peers and in their environment.
- To ensure that each learner is given the best opportunity to succeed whilst on Aspire.
- To listen to the needs of the young people and offer relevant advice and support wellbeing as well as signposting to the relevant service providers where necessary.

**Aspire Education**:
To support Aspire Lead in the delivery of Aspire ensuring that
- The Aspire+ project Lead is supported in creating a culture that reflects the ethos of Uprising Youth and Community.
- The day to day running of Aspire is adhered to.
- i.e registers held, reports written, paperwork signed off,
- Scheme of works and worksheets are continually developed for all aspects of the programme i.e:

- Functional Skills Maths and English
- PSHE
- That all policies relevant to Aspire (and Uprising) are adhered to
- Safeguarding
- GDPR
- Behaviour Policy
- To have read and understood Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- Professional relationships with our partners (families, schools, Police) and provide where necessary information on young people.
- Lead and teach on lessons of Aspire.
- To follow and abide by all Health and Safety procedures.

Whilst the above will be a primary focus of this position, there may be a need to support other projects delivered by Uprising Youth and Community.

**Additional Information**:

- A full DBS check will be completed for any successful applicant.
- A full UK driving licence is required as the role may involve driving company vehicles.
- _Given the nature of this role an Occupational Requirement has been established for the post holder to be a Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010._

**Salary**: From £18,000.00 per year

- Monday to Friday

- Ashford, Kent: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
