Facilities Lead

Are you looking to be part of an established and pioneering charity? We have an opportunity for an experienced Facilities Lead to become an integral part of the Operations Department at Blind Veterans UK, where you will work collaboratively leading a multi-functionalteam, managing the facilities and transport.
In the Facilities Lead role, you will be:
- Responsible for the operation of site security and maintenance services, ensuring the fire safety and security of all staff, beneficiaries, visitors, and contractors is provided in a safe manner
- Managing budgets and ensuring effective use of people and resources
- Responsible for the recruitment, training, and continual development of staff to ensure they have the appropriate knowledge and skills
- Safely transporting members and other beneficiaries to and from the site via a team of Transport Service Drivers and the use of the Charity’s vehicles
- Manage external contractors and negotiating contract renewals to ensure all work is carried out to agreed specifications and to the highest possible standards
- Completing compliance with organisational facilities related policies, procedures, and service standards
- Ensuring all facilities related work is performed in a safe manner and that risk assessments, COSHH assessments and permits to work are used as required
- Act as the responsible and accountable person for the effective management and monitoring of the water system in accordance with the Legionella Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8
- Proactively engaging with volunteers to enhance the member and customer experience and ensure positive social impact
- Experience of managing facilities services and engaging the services of external contractors
- Proven supervisory or people management experience
- Experience of planning and managing budgets
- Knowledge of local building trades and services including local authority planning and building regulations
- Effective communication skills and the ability to effectively lead and motivate staff
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a controlled manner
- Computer literate including Microsoft Word, Outlook
- Hold an IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
- Managerial qualification or equivalent vocational experience
- City & Guilds Management of Legionella in Building Water Systems (ENWS) or willingness to undertake training
- BTEC (Level 4) Advanced Fire Safety Management or equivalent
- PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience
This is a permanent, full time position on a salary of £36,000 per annum plus employee benefits such as life insurance, generous pension scheme (after three months of service), health cashback scheme (after one year’s service), access to subsidised employeecanteen, gym and leisure facilities and an Employee Assistance Programme.
