**Job Description**:

Future uncertainties such as the advent of Mobility as a Service, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and the results of transport decarbonisation policy areas require new methods of modelling. Evolving methods for modelling are creating alternative ways of harnessing big data sources and translating this into usable modelling tools.

Examples of our current projects and clients include: Building the Midlands Regional Traffic Model version 2 for National Highways. Traffic Modelling, Appraisal and Business Case development for the City East Gateway scheme for the City of Wolverhampton Council. Tap on Tap off (bus operation) Business Case for West of England Combined Authority. All-Purpose Trunk Road Route Optimisation Study for National Highways to address safety and delay on the network.A46 Lincoln and A38 Trerulefoot to Liskeard Junctions PCF Stage 0 Studies for National Highways.Planning and modelling support for the National Highways Spatial Planning Framework as part of their development control responsibilities.Job Responsibilities: As a Principal Transport Planner, you will be an important member of our Transport Planning and Modelling team in Birmingham, working closely with our Associates and Directors within the Transportation business and other disciplines across our offices. You will specify and manage transport planning projects and programmes, act as the face of AECOM with clients, provide advice and support and explore business opportunities. You will lead workstreams within projects with limited supervision, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to support and supervise junior employees.
- Managing transport modelling to inform scheme appraisal and business case development leadership in producing quality client reports to a high technical standard.
- Providing modelling inputs for the delivery of Business Cases for a range of different transport proposals.
- Ability to liaise and engage with clients and key stakeholders without supervision.
- Excellent technical and communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience in bid writing and drafting proposals to meet client needs.

**Qualifications**:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- An analytical mind and background with a broad understanding of current transportation trends and issues
- Experience in transport modelling with some experience in SATURN, VISUM or CUBEUnderstanding of the business case process and TAG guidance
- Data analysis and processing skills
- Excellent numeracy and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively individually or as part of a project team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant degree.Membership of a chartered professional institution such as CIHT, TPS, CILT or ICE
