We are looking for a Mechanic to join our Flying Squad team working in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf, internationally and onshore as required.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out work offshore as directed by the Foreman.

Main responsibilities
- Carrying out work offshore as directed by the Ad hoc Foreman.
- Undertake, as required, duties of resident mechanic as directed by core crew personnel.

Safety
- Comply with Sparrows HSEQ procedures and standards.
- Comply with client procedures and standards (where applicable).
- Comply with relevant statutory regulations and legislation.
- Ability to identify hazards and risks that are associated with a specific job/ task.

Work Site Documentation
- Ability to use the appropriate approved source to obtain the required information and specifications.
- Ability to identify, extract and interpret the required information.

Commissioning
- Ability to hand over equipment that has been repaired, or on which some form of maintenance activity has taken place.
- Ability required to confirm that equipment is ready for to return to service.
- Ability required to set up equipment and ensuring that the equipment is ready for operation before handover.
- Ability required to highlight any new, current or changed operating features of the equipment and to inform the appropriate person of any future maintenance requirements.

Fault finding
- Ability to plan and organise fault finding activities on mechanical equipment
- Ability to use various fault-finding techniques and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to identify various faults on various mechanical equipment and rectify the faults.
- Ability and skill to have a consistent approach to fault finding.

Equipment Maintenance
- Ability to plan and organise various Maintenance and Repair activities.
- Ability to maintain and repair various mechanical equipment to the required standard.
- Ability to understand how each piece of equipment functions after maintenance or repair.
- Ability to complete all relevant and necessary job/task documentation accurately and legibly.

Wire Ropes
- Ability to plan and organise wire rope removal /replacement activities.
- Ability to carry out tasks related to various types of wire rope removal/ change out.

Rope spooling
- Ability to position and operate the spooling winch safely to the desired standard.
- Ability to know and understand the operating procedures and potential problems.
- Ability to comply with the safe working practices.

Bolt Tensioning
- Ability to work towards a Competency to inspect and test tension and or torque equipment.
- Ability to work towards a Competency to position/ install and safely operate bolt torque and tension equipment.
- Ability to work towards a Competency to comply with the safe working practices.

HSEQ responsibilities
- It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
- The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience
- Mechanical Trade Certification
- BOSIET/ FOET
- MIST
- Working at Height
- Level 3 VQ in Engineering Maintenance Mechanical or suitable equivalent (e.g., EAL Technical Support with additional Rigging Units).
