**Job Title: Bioplastics Researcher**

**Responsibilities**:
E.V.A Biosystems is using synthetic biology to develop advanced bioplastics for large scale manufacturing. The ultimate goal of the company is to develop materials for packaging that can selectively degrade in specific environments, such as seawater.

We are seeking a highly motivated Bioplastics Researcher to join our dynamic team and help achieve this goal. As a Bioplastics Researcher, you will be at the forefront of sustainable material innovation. Your responsibilities will include:

- Wetlab molecular biology work: Conducting experiments involving bacterial cell culture, genetic modification, and various molecular biology techniques.
- Experimental design: Collaborating within the research team to design experiments and protocols to achieve project goals.
- Data processing and presentations: Analyzing and processing experimental data, generating reports, and communicating results.

**Job Location**:
Edinburgh based - Hybrid work between King’s Buildings laboratory space and working from home. The majority of the work is expected to be in-person wetlab work.

Proof of right to work in the U.K. is required.

**Salary**:
The annual salary for this role is £30,000.

**Contract Duration and Working Hours**:
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing in January with flexible start date. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours a week) with flexibility around working hours, by agreement, to meet the needs of the individual and the project team.

**Required Knowledge / Skills**:
To be considered for this position, you should have the following qualifications and experience:

- Biological Wetlab Experience: Proficiency in conducting wetlab experiments is essential, including bacterial cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis bacterial transformation, etc.

While not mandatory, the following skills and experience are highly desirable:

- Programming experience: Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for data analysis and automation.
- Polymer chemistry: Knowledge or experience in polymer chemistry, especially related to plastic degradation, would be an advantage.
- 3D printing or other forms of plastic extrusion and manufacturing: Experience or interest in 3D printing or other forms of plastic extrusion and manufacturing technologies such as injection moulding is a plus.
