The Key purpose of the role is to provide support and direction for our supervising social workers to support them in their work with our foster carers to get the best possible outcomes for our children. **Part time hours would be considered.**

**What will I be doing?**
We are at an exciting point, implementing our new service structure and we hold great ambitions of ourselves and our foster carers. Strong advocates of relationship-based practice in all that we do for the benefit of the children and young people in our care.

Working in our Fostering Service you will have the opportunity to support profound changes to a child’s life and to build long term relationships helping them achieve success.

We place children and young people at the heart of what we do, working with their carers and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for their education, social, health and emotional wellbeing.

**What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?**
You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships with our foster carers and how you are able to make a difference for our children looked after.. You will need to be a **qualified social worker registered with Social Work England** and have substantial experience working across fostering services and with children and families.

You should be able to work with an increased level of autonomy and decision making; support less experienced colleagues with practice meetings and chair meetings as appropriate to support good outcomes for the children and young people in our care.

**Anything else I should know?**
Our four teams are based across Somerset in Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil, and Shepton Mallet. You will hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as travel is required.

We're supporting flexible working arrangements and our offices meet the Covid-19 Secure standards. We’re using risk assessments and where needed, PPE to protect our social workers. Good technology is provided to help you stay connected to your team and manager through virtual meetings, team check-ins and service sessions.

From 1 April 2023 the County and District councils in Somerset will be replaced by a new single unitary authority - Somerset Council. It’s an exciting time to join us as we work together with the four district councils to deliver the new council for Somerset.

Salary £37,261 - £41,496 per annum
