**The role**:
**Our Business Continuity Manager will be part of the Risk, Compliance & Assurance Directorate. They will support effective and efficient management and development of our Business Continuity system and MaPS outsourced Health and Safety provision. Thisrole will have day to day responsibility for managing and reporting on business continuity planning and health & safety compliance and will be required to proactively engage with stakeholders across the organisation.**
**Key Responsibilities**:
**As the Business Continuity Manager, you will be responsible for the following**:

- Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new, and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that the organisation has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements
- Lead on the documentation, implementation and maintenance of MaPS wide business continuity and health and safety test plans, assurance processes and high-level policy documents
- Lead business impact analysis and risk assessment exercises and conduct analysis to understand risk trends or patterns with a view to developing and recommending strategies to mitigate those risks
- Assist and oversee MaPS outsourced health and safety provision including the end of year assessments and reports
- Ensure health and safety management and reporting integrates with MaPS facilities management
- Work with the business to coordinate Operational Resilience planning and testing
- Work proactively with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety, and wellbeing within their areas of responsibility
- Review the business continuity plans of MaPS strategic outsourced organisations and seek assurance to support operational resilience testing.
- Support the Senior Compliance and Assurance Manager to Identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption and other risks caused by business, regulatory, or industry-specific change initiatives.
- Support the Senior Compliance and Assurance Manager to create, review, or update existing business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans and health & safety policies and procedures
- Support recovery decision making and communications, continuity of critical departmental processes, or temporary shut-down of non-critical departments to ensure continuity of operation and governance
- Maintain training and awareness by conducting at minimum, annual tests of plans to ensure adherence to compliance requirements, and general comfort in executing on a plan as needed
- Write and track reports to summarise testing and recommended remediations activities, including descriptions of goals, planning, scheduling, execution, results, analysis, conclusions, and status of recommendations
- Escalate health and safety and business continuity risks and issues to the Senior Responsible Owners (Directorates), Enterprise Risk and Compliance functions, as required.
- Build collaborative working across the organisation to secure buy-in and support of the business continuity program
- Act as a coordinator for continuity efforts after a disruption event
- Support the Senior Compliance and Assurance Manager to coordinate and report on delivery assurance, as required.
- Assist with second line risk, compliance and assurance activities and support the Risk, Compliance and Assurance Directorate senior leadership, as required.

**It is essential for Business Continuity Manager to demonstrate the following skills and experience**:
**Experience and Expertise (required)**:

- Experience coordinating Business Continuity Management
- Understands and has experience working with Health & Safety and Operational Resilience regulatory requirements
- Demonstrable experience successfully leading change initiatives
- Has undertaken Business Continuity Training either through an accredited provider or Civil Service Learning
- Exemplary planning and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communications skills
- Experience with documenting and implementing a business continuity programme
- Experience reviewing and managing third-party business continuity plans programmes

**Experience and Expertise (desirable)**:

- Experience implementing one or more of the following frameworks, standards, or regulatory bodies: HSE, ISO 22301, FFIEC, Operational Resilience, EBA, MAS, CBB or global equivalent
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
- Strong project management background
