Our prestigious client based in St Albans he is looking for a Senior Grounds-person

Scope & General Purpose of Job:
To perform under the general guidance and direction of the Maintenance Manager or their delegate, the

Senior Grounds-person is personally responsible for the planting, growing, maintaining and/or improving the grounds and gardens of the property.

Main Responsibilities
- Plan, carry out and monitor plant and tree care programmes including landscaping, propagation, planting,

irrigation, weeding, grass cutting, trimming and general garden, pathways, fencing, car park and any other

facilities maintenance that is assigned to him by his line manager.
- Carry out soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing,

bed preparation and planting
- To keep the gardens, thoroughfares and footpaths clear and free from litter at all times
- To carry out seasonal maintenance which include gritting, salt spreading, snow cleaning, as necessary

throughout the property grounds where necessary.
- Lawn and plant bed maintenance and cultivation
- Manage all garden project activities to ensure they are carried out on schedule and within allocated budgets.
- To use and maintain as required hand tools and basic light machinery; plant, cylinder and rotary mowers,

strimmer and leaf blowers - to ensure the use of tools and machinery and chemicals are performed in a safe

manner with proper training
- To ensure that all Health & Safety at Work legislation are complied with including risk assessments and

COSHH
- To ensure all equipment, machinery and buildings are secured
- To be aware of and report any safety and security risks
- To undergo training as required
- Where required, to ensure all administration duties assigned are conducted in a professional manner including

routine progress reporting, financial and plant records, purchasing of garden consumables and staff rotas
- To maintain effective supervision, support and direction of the grounds/garden staff, promote smooth working

relationships, encourage internal cooperation and team working to maximize the effectiveness of these

resources.
- To support the maintenance manager and other team members in the Maintenance department as and when

necessary

- to work 5 days out of 7, with a minimum of 40 hours a week (summer/winter schedule)
- Attendance as required on company courses and meetings necessitating possible absence from home.
- Understand and work with the physical demands of the job:

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel,crouch, sit, climb or balance.
- The employee is required to work in areas & during periods of significant temperature differences.
- The employee is regularly required to lift up to 8 kilos. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 25kg.
