A Recruitment and Retention Premium (RRP) of £4,500 (pro rata) will be paid to new and existing Sonographers. This will be reviewed annually.
Are you a sonographer with a real passion for obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scanning and looking for a new challenge within a friendly supportive and dynamic team? Then Liverpool Women’s Hospital may be the place for you to excel in sonography.
As a key member of the Imaging team, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills and expertise in obstetrics, gynaecology and general ultrasound. You will need to be able to work independently demonstrating a high level of competence, excellent communication skills and compassion with an advanced awareness of being an advanced practitioner.
All sonographers actively take part in the BMUS recommended peer audit process and participate in monthly learning meetings to discuss and challenge any outcomes, to constantly improve the scan service we offer to our patients. We pride ourselves on providing the safest and most up to date and dynamic ultrasound procedures and we constantly ensure our sonographers are at the forefront of the new technological advances in the field of ultrasound.
We really value the input of our sonographers in how we operate our ultrasound imaging service, constantly striving to ensure our patients are at the centre of every decision made. The Imaging Department value teamwork and are committed to training and development.
The Sonographer will be involved in the delivery of obstetric, general and gynaecological ultrasound services to all patients attending the imaging department, community sites and wards. There is regularly overtime available at weekends and evenings which is optionable. They will be able to organise their workload efficiently and liase with referrers, other staff and service users to optimise service delivery.
The Post Holder will work unsupervised in delivering aspects of ultrasound scanning that may include: - Obstetrics and Gynaecology scanning - General, vascular scanning (desirable but not essential) The Sonographer will act independently, interpreting scan findings and producing written free text reports on examinations performed. Excellent communication skills are essential due to the need to deliver highly sensitive and potentially upsetting information to both patients and relatives.
The Sonographer will also assist in the training and supervision of students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, newly qualified staff and other professional groups. Peer audit review will be undertaken by the individual and monthly learning meetings attended to discuss and challenge issues, to constantly improve the scan service we offer to our patients.
We expect our sonographer to actively help with governance, QA and audit and value their input on how we can achieve the best diagnostic outcomes.
