**Qualifications**:
City and Guilds 706 - 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)

Hold or working towards Intermediate Food Hygiene Level

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

**Experience**:

- Maintain excellence across departments

- Experience of Food Preparation for the relevant client group

**Key Responsibilities**

To oversee catering activity in the home

To ensure food hygiene procedures are maintained and evidential records are completed

Ensure HACCAP’s processes are followed and recorded as an evidential record of good practice

**Food Preparation**:
Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals as and when required

Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary, and take into account the preferences of individual clients

Maintain accurate records of food supplies and freezer / fridge temperatures

Ensure mandatory systems are correctly filled in and signed for by nurse in charge

**Communication**:
Undertake menu planning in consultation with residents and the Registered Manager in order to provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of available fresh foods

Arrange / participate in staff and client meetings as required

Ensure menus are displayed showing choices in different formats

**Budgetary / Financial Control**:
Ensure stock rotation. Order stock and check deliveries, check and value stock as required by the Registered Manager

Liaise with the Registered Manager when ordering any additional (to contract) food products

Manage and maintain agreed budgets, in conjunction with the Registered Manager

Carry out month end stock takes

**Human Resources (HR)**:
Prepare staff rota for the catering team

Interview for new Team Members with the Registered Manager as and when required, in line with the company’s recruitment policy

Conduct regular supervisions and annual appraisals of the catering team

**Training and Development**:
Supervise and instruct catering Team Members in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedures, giving help and guidance where appropriate

Train members of the catering team in cooking skills as appropriate

Liaise with the Training Co-ordinator to provide or arrange Basic Food Hygiene training for all care home staff involved in handling and delivery of food

Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence

Attend mandatory training days / courses, on or off site as and when required

**General**:
Promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the care home at all times

Ensure that all information of a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties

Complete monthly kitchen audits

Notify the Registered Manager or the person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence

Ensure the security of the care home is maintained at all times

Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained

Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
