Environmental Health Officer

**A DBS may be required for this role.**
An Environmental Health Officer is required to provide a high-quality Regulatory Service in Environmental Health to Business and Residents in the local area.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To carry out inspections, re-inspections and surveys and to be responsible for the investigation, enforcement and manage a caseload.
- To prepare and serve Statutory Notices and take enforcement action in line with the Council’s strategy and departmental enforcement policies.
- To report and/or advise where statutory action is not appropriate and to initiate prosecutions for failure to comply with statutory instruments where appropriate.
- To consult/negotiate with developers, landlords, contractors, business and other clients as appropriate, to ensure progress of casework.
- To carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and to attend Public Inquiries, courts of law, and tribunals.

**Qualifications**:
- BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered as an EHO
**Skills & experience**:
- Experience in taking enforcement action for failure to comply with requirements of appropriate legislation and statutory notices.
- Ability to manage a caseload
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Good customer service skills
- Knowledge Of Using Microsoft Excel & Word
- Previous experience in similar role
- The ability to keep accurate records for official use
- Good observational and investigation skills
- Ability to carry out inspections
- Flexible and able to work at times outside normal core working hours.
