Infection Prevention and Control Surveillance

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy Infection prevention and control team.

The surveillance officer will be based at West Middlesex Hospital and has primary responsibility for the surgical site infection surveillance programme (SSIS). This service helps hospitals in England record and follow up incidents of infection after surgery, and use results to review or change practice as necessary. As well as collating surgical site surveillance data, the post also involves collecting and reporting other types of infection data such as blood stream infections.

Main functions include:

- To be responsible for the collection, organisation, analysis, reporting and feedback of Public Health England's surgical site infection surveillance programme within Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.

To perform ongoing systematic and active surgical site surveillance following guidelines set down byPublic Health England.

To assist with collation of health-care associated infection data when required.

To act as the point of contact for queries arising from the data collected.To interact with patients who meet the criteria for the surgical site surveillance programme
