Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Designated Social Care Officer to work full time based in Dudley.

The salary for this permanent Designated Social Care Officer job is up to £54,070 per annum.

**Main duties**:

- Provide leadership, operational guidance and direction in the way that social care services are identified and delivered for those with SEN, disabled children, young people 0- 25 in the identification of need and the EHC Needs Assessment and EHC Plan process
- To ensure that social care processes and pathways across children and adults are clearly documented in the Local Offer
- To lead in framing and developing social care elements as identified within the Children and SEND Improvements Plans to ensure compliance with legislative requirements of the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
- To proactively ensure that clear social care information and advice is accessible on the local Offer and be the link to update this information as required
- To directly inform and influence the direction of wider SEND services through a commitment and passion for SEND, demonstrating in-depth knowledge, and understanding of both social care operations and the SEND reforms agenda, identifying areas where social care is weak or non-compliant with the SEND Code of Practice - generating solutions and implementing strategies and plans to address this - aligning these to social care’s operational and business plans and statutory obligations
- Demonstrate strong communicating and coproducing skills with families, relevant partners and enabling inclusion across the services in response to the Children Act 1989, Childrens & Families Act 2014, 2014 Care Act and other related children’s legislation
- The ability to negotiate effectively with and influence others, build and nurture effective partnerships, working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders across the local authority and exploiting opportunities for social care understanding
- To act as the operational and local area interface, representing the Local Authority social care service at key regional and national events as required and sharing best practice to enhance the commitment between SEND and social care
- To lead and champion a culture of strong partnership working across all social care disciplines, at all levels, to ensure the delivery of integrated support and key strategies for children and young people 0-25 with SEND, their families and carers
- To support Social Care services across children and adults understand their contribution towards the Education, Health and Care processes by ensuring that assessments, are aligned and that transition processes are evident across children to adults
- To be that source of expert professional advice on SEND reforms relating to social care within the local area and participate in a matrix management model to enhance accountability for social care input
- Ensure that the service delivers effective working practices, good outcomes and high-quality services, in line with all relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice

**Requirements of this Team Manager job**:

- Experience of working successfully as a manager and leader in children’s social work teams across disability and or assessment service
- Experience of performance management and quality assurance in service design and delivery
- Evidence of knowledge, understanding and practice in relation to the implementation of SEND legislation, particularly within social care
- Evidence of successful integrated working with colleagues across service and partner agencies to promote the children and young people’s best interests
- Experience of being involved in developing, auditing and monitoring services
