MAKE Southwest is at the heart of the Bovey Tracy community; it is an education charity and membership organisation that aims to create as many opportunities as possible for people to enjoy and learn about contemporary craft.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly and dynamic team. You will work with our Retail Gallery Manager to deliver the highest customer service, sell our beautiful products, support our Maker Members and manage our stock database.

**Job Title**:Retail Gallery Assistant

**Responsible To**:Retail Gallery Manager

**Work Hours**:Weds - Sat, 9am - 5.30pm (30 hours per week)

**PURPOSE**:

- To provide the highest level of customer service to help to maximise retail selling opportunities of Maker Members work in store and online.
- To support the Retail Gallery Manager with the stock management database, merchandising and Maker Member queries.
- To welcome our visitors to our galleries, providing information on our exhibitions, charitable goals and purpose.

**KEY TASKS**:

- Ensure that customers receive high standards of service and sales expertise.
- Process sales through an EPOS/Excel till system, handle cash, wrap and package items.
- Assist the Retail Gallery Manager to ensure management of appropriate stock levels, including maintaining the stock database, ordering stock and organising stock spaces.
- Daily retail administration.
- Drive sales, sharing with customers insight and understanding of our Maker Members work, craft processes and general craft sector knowledge and industry trends.
- Support the Retail Gallery Manager to create appealing visual merchandising.
- Maintain a tidy and clean Retail Gallery.
- To open and set-up the Retail Gallery ready for trading and securely close the Gallery completing the end of day process.
- Support the Ecommerce site by taking product images, uploading stock for sale, fulfilling online orders and customer support.
- Support digital marketing with regular updates on social media platforms.
- Support and work with the Exhibitions team to set-up new exhibitions, work with curators, sell exhibited work and help replenish items sold.
- Working within a charitable framework and budgets.
- Operate in accordance with the MAKE Southwest employment, Health and Safety, equal opportunities and other legal requirements, and its practices, policies and procedures.
- Support other teams as needed, covering absences and responding to busy periods.
- Work at adhoc events such as pre-view evenings, private functions and fayres.
- Carry out any other duties as required which will help to contribute to the overall performance of the charity.
