Are you an ambitious Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) looking for a new challenge to join our multidisciplinary team working in a forensic setting?

Coveberry Oldbury part of the Caretech Group, provides specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for men with a primary diagnosis of learning disability or autism, whose behaviours challenge. Our expert teams are able to support individuals witha forensic or offending history and offer a range of offender behaviour programmes, adapted for people with a learning disability. The hospital has 13 en-suite bedrooms and two independent living flats, which enables our multidisciplinary team to assess andconsolidate skills and risk assess in an environment that replicates community living, prior to discharge.

This is a unique post where you will deliver an SLT service and provide support to adults who have mental health problems, learning disabilities and/or are Autistic, helping them maintain their daily living skills.

You will have responsibility for managing the communication needs of the patient/resident group with long arm supervision from a more experienced colleague.The role will be to provide Speech & Language Therapy assessment, diagnosis and intervention topatients/resident referred to the service using established models of Speech & Language Therapy ensuring practice is evidence based.The post-holder will work as a core member of the MDT. A post-graduate qualification in dysphagia is desirable but not essential.

To be successful in this role you will have a degree or a postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). You will have experience working with individuals that haveLearning Disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders and preferably have worked with AAC approaches and be excited by the Care Tech values and will relish an opportunity to make a difference. You will need to be a clear communicator, well-organised, confidentand capable of managing a complex caseload in a demanding environment.

Experience of supervising others and providing training to multi-disciplinary staff is desirable.
