London, United Kingdom Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking, enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced administrator to join the Palliative Care Service community team, based at St Pancras. This post will work closely with the senior leadership of the service to optimise service delivery and ensure efficient patient flow. The post holder will also provide leadership support to the administrative team in the delivery of core administrative processes.

The Palliative Care Service provides specialist care in community and hospital settings for patients with an advanced or progressive illness which may be incurable. The care we deliver can be provided alongside other active medical and therapeutic treatments, in order to improve quality of life. For those towards the end of life we hope that patients can die in comfort, with dignity and in the surroundings of their choice. Our specialists include nurses, doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, clinical psychologists and assistant practitioners.

As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**: overseeing the patient pathway from referral to discharge and providing high quality support to the team; supporting the triage function of the service in managing patient flow; providing leadership and support to the administrative team in the delivery of core administrative tasks, including acting as a point of escalation; and supporting the senior service leadership with the management and optimisation of the service, including supporting oversight of service delivery and service improvement projects.

This post requires significant prior experience in an administrative role in a healthcare setting, as well as experience of coordinating patient flow. The ability to effectively multitask and manage workload independently is essential. The role will involve liaison at multiple levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders, so advanced communication skills are also essential. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys a challenging variety of tasks, enjoys working as part of a team, and has a passion for patient wellbeing.

CNWL (Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust) has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. We involve service users, carers, the public, staff and partner organisations in the way that we are run.

Our catchment area spans diverse communities, with over 100 first languages spoken. It contains areas of great affluence as well as areas of much deprivation. We are committed to providing services that meet the needs of the people who use them, and we actively encourage involvement from local people who can help make a difference. We’re proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME and people with disabilities to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.

We are recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare.

For a further detailed description of the role responsibilities please see the attached job description and person specification.
