**We have an exciting opportunity to join our leading-edge Graduate programme for a Project Manager in Defence - The role will start from September 2023.**

The role of the Project Manager is dynamic and stimulating. As a Graduate PM, you will assist other members of the PM team to drive projects forward and ensure that our clients achieve the built assets that their business function requires. This involves working at all stages of the project from initial concept right through to construction and operation of the building.

The PM is a key interface between the client, design team, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders. The PM helps to ensure actions are carried out by the appropriate parties at the right times to ensure deadlines are met and that value is added to the client's projects.

To be effective in the role of a Graduate PM you must have effective communication skills, be good at building relationships and rapport with the various parties involved in a project, be good at planning and managing your time, be highly motivated, and be committed to delivering excellent service to our clients.

**Please be advised that applicants for this role will need to be British Nationals due to the security nature of defence contracts and will have to go through advanced security clearance**

**About the project**

Costain has a portfolio of high profile projects across all sectors. This role will initially focus on a major infrastructure project supporting our defence sector clients.
**This role will be based at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth**

**Key responsibilities**
- Regular liaison with all relevant parties
- Procurement
- Liaising with and assisting Senior Project Managers
- Contact administration
- Data management
- Coordinating the project team
- Planning key task
- Reporting on progress and cost
- Site visits and meetings

**About you**
- Have passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets
- Bachelor's degree or working towards a degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying is preferred
- Able to demonstrate a keen interest in developing a career in Project Management
- Effective decision making and strong verbal and written communication
- Proactive and driven approach to work and creating success
- Ability to working in a team of diverse individuals to meet common objectives
- Buy-in to achieving deadlines set by Clients and Managers
- IT proficient
- Able to work accurately and appreciate its importance to the team
- A willingness to learn with appropriate instruction
- Excel at building and maintaining positive relationships
- The ability to thrive in pressured situations
- The ability to empathise and communicate with all people, regardless of their background or circumstances
- Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
- Mobility to work on various projects over the 2-year programme throughout the UK
