**Petersham Nurseries Richmond are looking to recruit a lifestyle buyer.**
- The lifestyle buyer drives business growth by selecting and managing the product portfolio. To evolve and grow the current product range using data analysis and market awareness, flexing the range appropriately between retail and E-commerce while ensuring brand consistency._

**The Role**
- Be responsible for the seasonal buy budget and buy strategy for the department
- Be responsible for negotiation of terms, condition to ensure consistent and flow of stock to maximise sales and margin
- Identify new brand and product opportunities, implementing strategies to increase the buy and secure new product and suppliers whilst nurturing supplier relationships
- Proactively and continuously source product by staying true to the Petersham Nurseries ethos, in an opportunistic environment, developing existing relationships and fostering new relationships
- Analyse weekly reports and work with Merchandiser to review risks and maximise opportunities
- To act as a key line of communication with all suppliers, liaising upon day-to-day issues, regarding product, and quality information.
- Develop and maintain appropriate systems (reports/files/spreadsheets) for the effective running and performance of the area
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the competitive environment by reviewing products/brands including pricing information through quarterly Comp Shops and report findings back to the Buying team.
- Source new and exclusive products in lifestyle. As well as developing innovative products under our own brand
- Work with the marketing team to develop compelling content and stories around the product
- To demonstrate a clear understanding of the Petersham Nurseries clientele, ensuring the segments and demographics needs are understood and put at the heart of the product offer developed
- Identifying key opportunities within assigned product area and work closely with designers and factories to launch new products in line with the department strategy with the support of the insert role here
- Liaise directly with suppliers and factories to ensure delivery of assigned product area meets key critical path deadlines.
- Build a very good understanding of the Company’s product direction and ensure that our customers’ needs are covered by the category range you will be looking after
- Think out of the box and identify the gaps in the category and make suggestions for improvement
- To work with Merchandising & other departments to interpret and adapt to market trends and direction, ensuring that the conceptual global range developed is differentiating and targeted to the needs of the customer
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the creative flair to drive a business forward
- Proven track record of creating positive impact on business through buying strategy
- Extremely well-organised, methodical, and efficient with the ability to self-motivate and drive initiatives
- Presenting in sign offs with the planner to senior management
- Collaborate across functions and build strong relationships with our Ecom, marketing and creative teams to ensure best delivery of concept to customer across all platforms
- An in-depth knowledge of the current competitive marketplace
- Basic understanding of Merchandise Planning
- Strong knowledge of materials used and understanding of material supply base, as well as external market conditions including key economic, political, and social shifts
- Highly organised approach and commitment to closing and completing tasks
