Meraki Talent’s industry leading Financial Services client are looking for a Senior Actuary to join a growing Actuarial department based in Glasgow to be the Head of Financial & Insurance Risk.

As the Head of Financial & Insurance Risk, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the risk management strategies and ensuring the financial stability and security of the company. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in driving the success and safeguarding of assets in an ever-changing business environment.

The Head of Insurance Risk will be a critical appointment and therefore we are keen to speak to high-calibre individuals, preferably a qualified Actuary

**Responsibilities of the Position**:

- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks and policies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and insurance risks.
- Lead a team of risk management professionals, providing guidance and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including finance, legal, and insurance teams, to identify and understand potential risks, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks, and proactively adjust risk management strategies accordingly.
- Managing the BAU oversight of unit-linked funds and reporting on key activity in this area to the Unit-Linked Funds Committee.
- Providing input into the Risk Review Plan for the Board Risk Committee on an annual basis,
- planning and performing financial, insurance and other relevant ‘deep dive’ independent risk
- reviews and oversight in accordance with the Risk Function Mandate.
- Liaise with, challenge and understand both internal and external Audit requirement
- People management - build action plans to reduce key man risk, through targeted up skilling and cross training programs.

**Background of the Position**:

- Experience of working in a financial risk function within insurance or life
- Ability to assess potential investment strategies for different insurance products.
- Experience of working with fund managers and of managing external relationships.
- Interest in understanding market themes and potential outcomes and how this could shape investment strategy.
- Strong communication skills to engage with various stakeholders across the business
- Excellent organisational and administration skills
- Enthusiastic and positive can-do attitude
